Back in June, we told you about Pickett West, a huge public lands timber grab that has the potential to hurt your community. Since then, we’ve been hard at work providing technical comments to the Bureau of Land Management that would keep this sale from logging old growth, logging streamsides, and from increasing community fire danger.
But the BLM isn’t listening. In fact, they are out marking big trees when they haven’t even made the legal decision to cut yet!
We need to turn up the volume and that means we need your help. We are organizing a community meeting, to share information and to make plans to oppose the old growth timber sale with everything we’ve got.
The People’s Forum on Pickett West
Thursday, August 24
6-9 pm
Selma Community Center (Highway 199, near Rays Food Place)
(Bring a dish to pass)
There will be short presentations on Pickett West, a chance for everyone to be heard, and together we will make plans to stop this sale, promote real forest restoration, and defend our communities from more old-growth logging.
We can’t lose thousands of acres of our backyard forests! Our communities, our water quality, and the region’s wildlife are at stake. Please join us!
