Natural History of Urban Riparian Areas

Join Rogue Riverkeeper’s Program Director, Frances Oyung, for this walk-and-talk on the Bear Creek Greenway!

This will be a walk through the riparian area along Bear Creek in Medford. We will identify and discuss native and invasive plants, and discuss the value of riparian areas and ongoing restoration. We will cross three tributaries to Bear Creek. We will look at the stormwater pipe that conveyed the petroleum products of the April oil spill and discuss the impacts of stormwater on streams. There will be some beginner-level visual and audio bird identification.

Approximately 2 mile walk on mostly level wood chip and muddy paths with some pavement.
