Join KS Wild on our 3rd consecutive year visiting this site to clean up the Waldo-Takilma ACEC, in hopes that these land stewardship projects discourage further dumping and illegal off road vehicle use.
We're partnering up with the BLM, Illinois Valley Soil and Water Conservation District, and local community high school students from IVHS to assess, pull invasive weed species, install fencing where illegal OHV activity has occurred, and clean-up this newly designated "area of critical concern" by the BLM. A plant identification walk and perspectives on the ACEC from an Archaeologist and Recreation specialist will also be weaved into this day as an educational component for everyone to benefit from.
In the past, these partnerships with the BLM, Illinois Valley Soil and Water Conservation District, and the local Community have collectively concluded that Clean up events are more than simply trash removals - it betters the area, encourages better use of the land, creates partnerships, and aides in maintaining stewardship ethics.
