Toxic Discovery Day Mine Gets Nixed
May 10th, 2023
The Discovery Day Mine is located in the headwaters of the Salmon River and has been infamous for the production of toxic mine tailings and arsenic. These public lands have been trashed and polluted for the financial benefit of only a few. Instead of cleaning up the mine and protecting the land, the mining proponents wanted to double down and increase the mining production. In response, KS Wild and our friends filed a successful administrative objection. As a result, the U.S. Forest Service regional office has directed the Klamath National Forest to reject the mining proposal and require the miners to clean up their mess. That's a win for wildlife, water, and wildlands!
