Fracked Gas Pipeline Through BLM Old-Growth Forests?
Tell the BLM “Hell No.”
Background:
The BLM is proposing to hand over 777 acres of your forests to an international gas export company in order to facilitate 42 miles of pipeline construction across public lands. One of the necessary approvals for the Jordan Cove Pacific Connector LNG Pipeline to change BLM land use plan and land designations for the sections of the pipeline crossing of BLM forests. Because the forest removal and pipeline construction violate so many provisions of BLM’s resource management plan (RMP), they are proposing to throw out the rulebook and create a brand-new management designation specially to expedite fossil fuel export through your public lands.
How To Take Action:
Anyone who previously participated by commenting on the project can file a legal “Protest” of the BLM Director’s Decision.
Use the template provided to write your own protest. Be sure to mention in your protest any comments you've previously submitted
The following template document provides language that is required to submit a complete "administrative protest." Please copy and paste all bold titles and modify the [example] language to fit your interests in why the BLM should deny amending their land management plans to exempt the Jordan Cove LNG export project. Specifically, language under the 'Demonstration of Previous Engagement' section shows the BLM that you've attempted to engage in each commenting period throughout the complex agency process for public opinion.
Follow the link at the bottom to submit your protest using the BLM submission process. You will be able to upload a document or build your protest in the text box. When you go to submit on the BLM site, fill in a comment title that relates to your protest. It can be anything. Also, you can leave Section and Chapter numbers blank, as they are not required.
If you have questions about completing and submitting your comments, contact George Sexton at gs@kswild.org
Deadline For Protests Is December 23, 2019
Protests must be received by BLM by the close of business on that day (5pm).
Protests must be signed.
