Frances Oyung, Rogue Riverkeeper Program Manager

Frances’ parents started her enjoying the outdoors from the beginning. She grew up skiing, camping, and hiking and began whitewater boating as a teenager on the Stanislaus River in the central Sierra Nevada. The Stanislaus inspired her river conservation activities when the New Melones dam was constructed and the reservoir was filled in the late 1970’s, flooding a beautiful canyon and river. Frances received a BA in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Natural History and Environmental Education from UC Santa Cruz. She has lived in the Rogue Valley since 1992 and worked in various capacities for public agencies and utilities as well as non-profit organizations, often working to protect water quality and native fish habitat. You will often find Frances recreating outdoors. She hopes to see you out there.
