Wild & Scenic Film Festival Comes to Medford

Includes premiere of “Run Rogue, Run”*

KS Wild and the Medford Congregational Church host the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in Medford.

Oct 20, 2008

What: The Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center and the Medford Congregational Church host the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in Medford. The Wild & Scenic On Tour brings together a selection of films from the annual festival held annually in Nevada City, California. The tour packages the three-day event into a three-hour program of films with narratives from people throughout the world engaged in mobilizing citizens to protect our natural resources and wild places. The films highlight the ‘tipping points’ that the planet is reaching, yet portray the ‘turning of the tides’ as communities realize and respond to these crises with creativity, resolve and heart.

Of particular interest for Oregonians is the premiere of “Run, Rogue, Run,” a short film which KS Wild helped produce. The film takes viewers on a journey down the Wild and Scenic section of southwest Oregon’s Rogue River Oregon and explores the need for protecting the river and its salmon and steelhead streams.

When: Friday, November 7, 2008 at 6pm

Where: Medford Congregational Church, 1801 East Jackson Street, Medford

Who: The Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center and the Medford Congregational Church are local hosts of this national film festival. The Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival is an alliance of conservationists and the following businesses: Clif Bar, Tom’s of Maine, Earth Cinema Circle, Brighter Planet Visa and Whole Foods Market. These five like-minded companies join presenting sponsor Patagonia in the campaign to use film to inspire activism.

Why: As we face tremendous environmental challenges, from water pollution and climate change to large-scale agriculture and species extinction, there is a pressing need for communities to gather and discuss a sustainable path forward. The festival brings communities together around local environmental issues and offers filmgoers an immediate way to take action. Film is a powerful and neutral way to introduce people to the concerns affecting our planet.
